Hermes Keynes

"THE BELLADONNA BUTCHER"

There's a little story i like to tell

Hermes was born to a family of many, due to his father's reckless and lustful nature. All his "siblings" were not full blood as his father was prone to cheating on his wife with many. His birth mother abandoned him with his father, and he was subjected to a life of punishment for a sin he hadn't committed, had only been the result of. His stepmother hated him and openly expressed her loathing and provided no comfort when his father's rage or drunken nature came forth.

The only form of love and care came from a few of those half siblings. They supported each other through hard times and grew up holding each other through the night. That was, until, Dean - one of the older boys - drowned in a nearby lake when Hermes was 11. The police investigated into the family and they were seized into custody of the state and put into foster care while his father and stepmom faced criminal charges for the abuse and negligence of the children, as well as indirect manslaughter of a child.

No one knew that Hermes was the one who pushed Dean into the lake after his temper got the best of him. Hermes was the one who held his half-brother's head under the water until he stopped moving. No one questioned if the boy had done it, and if he was lying when he said that he had only seen his brother go under and never come up.

Hermes never felt guilt for what he had done, only regret that he couldn't spend anymore play time with the brother he had grown close to.

From the foster care, Hermes was taken in by one of his father's older daughter, a one that had long since grown up and had left that place. Olivia was nothing like their father, kind and warm, and Hermes was grateful.

However, it would have been too easy if everything just stopped there. See, the curiosity of that child drove him to want to know that feeling again, the feeling of when he realized he had control over what happened to another, the kind of control he lacked in his own life when he lived with his father. It started with the drunk old man from the apartment below who had one night gotten in Olivia's face, screaming something about noise. He was Hermes' first victim and everyone was none the wiser, especially since his older sister had an alibi of being at the hospital for a late night shift at that time and there was no proof of anything. It was deemed as an accident.

The second victim was Isabelle Jade. A fellow student in Grade 8. Though her body was mutilated, with some flowers that Hermes would be soon associated with - a killer was never identified and the case was temporarily shelved after two months. However, the next body came shortly after the case was put on hold. And after for more bodies were found in the year following, it became clear that these events were related.

The local newspaper and other media sources created a buzz about a serial killer (being that there were four known victims ; unaware that the old man from the apartment complex from about a year ago was the start) and the word spread like fire, along with the paranoia.

Hermes was never caught, learning from excessive crime shows and his sister's police files on just how to avoid it all. Plus, no one suspected an innocent brown-haired boy who had no clear relation to any of the victims. However, he did slip up one day when he suffered a mental breakdown in science class when they were due to dissect frogs. He reportedly lashed out at classmates and teachers with one of the assigned scalpels until he was disarmed by a teacher and arrested.

He was deemed mentally unstable and placed into a mental ward where he stayed for a year, supposedly working over the trauma from his past, and was released shortly after his 17th birthday. During that time, everyone assumed that the serial killer had gone into hiding or had disappeared (Hermes was looked into but nothing could connect him to any of the murders), and Olivia had decided a change in scenery was necessary for him. She believed that the serial killer had had a negative stress on Hermes' life and decided to send him away to live with their brother, Apollo "Polly" Keynes in a new place.

That new spot was the town of Riverdale, a seemingly quiet place to cope. He was signed up for his junior year, dyed his hair outrageous colors, was taking his medication, and was seemingly ready to turn a new leaf in this quiet town.

However, it quickly grew to be realized, that this town's small charm was actually deadly about it. And when Hermes heard talkings of another killer, one called "the black hood", temptation gnawed at him to take the opportunity. The town was already shaken from one killer, would another be too noticed?

After a family of five on the Southside were reported dead with flowers in odd places on their bodies, and in their bodies, it became very clear that this was not the work of the black hood. And it wasn't long before the names began to buzz until one news outlet called the killer "the belladonna butcher" and the name stuck as a new killer stepped up.

About a little boy who came from hell

About

you could be the corpse

Personality: At a glance, Hermes seems pretty flamboyant and energetic. He has a bit of a problem with sitting still and seems to constantly be moving, whether it be his hands, legs or just his whole form. He's openly gay and isn't afraid to express that on varying levels.

He's poetic and it shows in the lyrics he writes - as he's interested in pursuing music due to it being a creative moodspace where he gets to reflect on feelings outside of killing people.

Hermes likes to go opposite of the grain and intentionally be offensive and rub people the wrong way.

He isn't very socially adept so sometimes he reacts in varying and unexpected levels. He also seems to have a lack of volume control when it comes to talking to others and has no filter in regards to what he thinks and what he ends up saying. However, it's clear in his work and his musings - even if they're nonsensical rambles sometimes - that he's actually quite smart, hiding under a layer of nativity and a jokester personality.

However, as his victims find out soon enough, his personality takes almost a complete 180 when he gets into the "predator" mode. He's quick, cunning, and while he still retains a more "childish nature" about his kills - thinking of them as games - he's not easily fooled.

Appearance: Typically, just like his personality, he usually dresses pretty....loud. His hair is usually a bright color and his shirts usually carry some bright pops of color. His skin is on the pale side but still lightly tanned with an olive toning to the skin that suggests Mediterranean blood in his family line.

His eyes are two different colors; one being blue, the other being green. It isn't extremely noticeable from a distance but it usually gets some attention. However, I would refrain from suggesting he's something demon related with those eyes, or you might end up like Isabelle Jade, the first one to make fun of those eyes.

He has a lean but muscular frame and stands around 5'8" but slouches so he appears a little shorter than he actually is.
